    Lost bike

Theft of a bike is a crime. You need to report this to the police. You can do this online on http://www.politie.nl/.

It is important to report a stolen bike to the police because they may be able to find your bike. Sometimes you need a copy of your report to the police for your bike insurance. Your report will be registered in a national database. If stolen bikes are found they are compared with the database. In case of a match, the police will contact you.

  • What should I do?

    Report to the municipality

Go to the municipality. The municipality saves all lost and found. If the municipality has your item, you can take it home with you. Otherwise you can report your missing item. You will have to describe the appearance of the lost item. The municipality will contact you if they think your item has been found.

    Report to the police

Always go to the police to report a stolen item. You can do it personally at the police station or you can do it online.

Sometimes you need to go to the police if you lost your ID. This depends on where you lost your ID or where you live. In some municipalities you don’t have to go to the police. You can report losing your ID at the municipality.
